Our Story

Founded in 2017, BuyBookBook is an online bookstore specialising in imported, officially published Chinese- and English-language books. Known for our affordable prices, carefully curated selection and efficient service, we mainly deliver to Hong Kong and Macau. Customers may also collect their orders or browse and purchase books in person at our shop in Hung Hom, Kowloon.

Where Our Story Began

Our story began with a child—and a parent’s simple wish to help.

When our own child was struggling with English, we set out to fill our home with books. Yet at the time, the price of English books often made reading feel like a luxury rather than an everyday joy.

So, in 2017, we founded BuyBookBook with a heartfelt hope: that families in Hong Kong, just like ours, could discover high-quality English children’s books in a way that was affordable, convenient and fast.

Our idea was wonderfully simple: even if no one bought the books, our own child could still read them! 😂

What began as a small family wish gradually grew into something far greater than we had imagined.

Over the years, we have been fortunate to meet many kind and sincere customers, whose encouragement and unwavering support have carried us forward. We have built a dedicated, like-minded team, and earned the trust of kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools and educational institutions across Hong Kong.

Most unexpectedly—and most joyfully—we also watched our own child’s reading ability and English results improve tremendously.

As our shelves grew fuller, so did our vision. From English children’s books, we gradually expanded our collection to include Chinese children’s books, as well as Chinese- and English-language titles for adults.

Along the way, we have continued to refine our website, logistics and services. Our hope is to make the journey from choosing a book to holding it in your hands as simple and enjoyable as possible—and to offer families, young readers and educators a wider world of authentic, high-quality books.

Because sometimes, all it takes is one book to open a door, awaken a curiosity or begin a lifelong love of reading.

Our Growth Journey

2017

With curiosity in our hearts
and a love of children’s books,
we rented a tiny ground-floor shop on Whampoa Street.

We began with a small collection
of Usborne English children’s books.

And quietly, almost like the first page of a new story,
BuyBookBook was born.

2019

When we had to leave our first little shop,
we began searching for a place
where customers could browse more freely
and where our growing collection could breathe.

We moved into an industrial unit
three times the size of our original shop
and began working with more publishers.

Page by page,
BuyBookBook entered a new chapter.

2021

By then, we had witnessed many young readers
grow in confidence, curiosity and ability.

As the children flourished,
BuyBookBook grew alongside them.

We introduced an ever-wider range of titles,
including both Chinese- and English-language children’s books.

Before long, however, our shelves had filled the space,
leaving little room for customers to pause and browse.

And so, once again,
we packed our books and moved
to an even larger industrial unit.

2023

Our collection continued to expand,
with a growing selection of Chinese- and English-language children’s books
and a substantial new range of titles for adults.

Nearly 20,000 different titles
found their way onto our shelves.

Alongside the bookstore,
an exceptional team had also taken root and grown.

With care, commitment and a shared love of books,
each member of our team plays an essential part
in serving readers in Hong Kong and overseas,
as well as kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools
and educational institutions.

From one child’s reading journey
to a community of families, schools and book lovers,
our story continues—
one reader, one book and one new chapter at a time.

2025

To make room for more wonderful books,
and to help each one find its reader sooner,
we expanded our warehouse once again,
doubling the space we had before.

We continued to seek out new releases
and carefully selected, high-quality books from around the world,
while opening pre-orders for an ever-growing range of titles—
so that eagerly awaited stories
could begin their journey to readers a little sooner.

BuyBookBook’s journey also carried us
beyond the bookstore and into more schools.

We began supporting kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools
with book procurement and on-campus book fairs,
bringing more wonderful books into classrooms
and closer to young readers—

so that, through every page they turn,
more children may discover
a wider and more wondrous world.
