El silencio del agua / The Silence of Water

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

"I don't think there is a silence deeper than the silence of water in the entire world. I felt it in that hour, and I have never forgotten it."

The silence of the water is the only thing the protagonist in this beautiful story hears as he waits by the river. He waits, waits, and waits for the barbel to return so he can avenge his broken rod. But he knows it won't be him who will eventually catch the fish...

Another great poetic tale by José Saramago, accompanied by Yolanda Mosquera’s beautiful illustrations.
