成為職業作家之前，Colleen Hoover 是一名社工，也任職過老師。

既然如此熱愛寫作，市場反應也不差，
Colleen 索性辭去了社工的工作，成為了全職作家。
2012年12月，她再次自費出版了小說 Hopeless，
