Diego Maradona, 1970

“My dream is to play in a World Cup. And the second is to win it.” -Diego Maradona, 1970
In I Will Never Forget, Diego Maradona relives, in his own words, the historic 1986 World Cup in Mexico. From training camp and the $25-per-day allowance to the final at the Azteca Stadium, this book is the firsthand account of the central figure in one of Argentina’s greatest football triumphs.
With his trademark passion, Diego retraces every step on the road to glory, sharing intimate moments and anecdotes never told before. He also pays tribute to his teammates—the ones who made Argentina’s second title possible. “I couldn’t have lifted the Cup without them,” he admits, convinced that it was a collective victory.
A book infused with Diego’s mystique. A collector’s edition in which the “cosmic kite” tells a story that still has much to tell us.
Over the years, and until his death in 2020, Maradona continued revisiting his testimony in private. From his conversations with his official biographer, Daniel Arcucci, comes this expanded and revised edition.
